Rs500m water supply, drainage project approved for flood-hit Buner

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a Rs500 million water supply and drainage project for flood-affected Buner district. The approval was accorded in the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) meeting held here on Tuesday, said a handout.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department Ikramullah Khan.
The meeting was attended by PDWP members and senior officers of the relevant departments.
According to the statement, the forum approved 60 development projects worth more than Rs38 billion, covering key sectors including roads, agriculture, social welfare, livestock, industries, health, forests and irrigation.
A major allocation includes a Rs500 million water supply and drainage project for flood-hit Buner district.
Under the project, clean drinking water schemes will be implemented in Union Councils Gulbandi and Pandera, while streets and drainage systems will be improved in Tehsils Gagra and Chagharzai to enhance public health and living conditions.
On the special directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi, several road infrastructure projects were also approved to ensure safer travel, improve connectivity, and provide access to remote areas across the province. As part of these initiatives, 27 feasibility studies will be conducted.
Additionally, the PDWP approved a Rs1.8 billion project for the improvement of the water supply system and rehabilitation of structures on the Main Chashma Right Bank Canal in Dera Ismail Khan, which is expected to benefit around 300,000 people.
