Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Communication and Works Shakil Ahmad on Monday said all available resources would be utilised to ensure the timely completion of the under-construction Khyber Institute of Child Health (KICH) and Children’s Hospital, describing the project as vital to improving healthcare services for children in the province.
Chairing a meeting to review the project’s progress, the minister was briefed by Chief Engineer (Mega Projects) Imran Hussain on the current status of construction, challenges affecting its completion and measures being taken to remove bottlenecks.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer Adnan Muhammad, Executive Engineer Tariq Afzal and other officials concerned.
Mr Ahmad directed the authorities to take practical measures to complete the project within the stipulated time frame and said the issue of insufficient funding would be addressed on a priority basis.
He said that as the project was directly linked to the health sector, outstanding issues would also be taken up with the Health Department and Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur to ensure their early resolution.
The minister reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to completing the project without unnecessary delay so that modern healthcare facilities could be made available to children at the earliest.
