A shield presented to Muhammad Iqbal by Deputy Superintendent of Police Quetta on behalf of Balochistan Police at PEMRA Islamabad. A meeting was attended by Director General Licencing/Broadcast Wakeel Khan, Director Abdul Rahman Amini, Director Tariq Mehmood and Director Zahid Idris from ZE at PEMRA, Islamabad.
Director General Licencing/ Broadcast Wakil Khan said that Muhammad Iqbal has performed his duties in the best way, his services will always be remembered.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Quetta, Mahmood Ali Khokhar said that Director Muhammad Iqbal fulfilled his responsibilities very well and his services will be remembered especially in regard to FM Radio Licensing.
Mehmood Ali Khokhar said that FM radio broadcasting is the best way of keeping people well aware, informed about the latest weather and traffic conditions on toads. He further added, awareness of road safety education can help in keeping highways safe from accidents. The Traffic Police Quetta FM-88.6 radio station will be of great importance to keep road commuters informed about weather, traffic, alternative routes as well as traffic rules.
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued an educational radio license to the Quetta Traffic Police and very soon not only regular transmission will be broadcast but also same will be broadcast from more cities of Balochistan including Gwadar for the safety and guidance of the people.
The objective of FM radio is to educate the public about traffic rules, traffic education, road safety and obtaining a driving license.
We all have to play our role to avoid traffic accidents. He further said that Inspector General of Police, Balochistan Abdul Khaliq Sheikh has issued instructions that FM Radio will be used not only for road safety education but also for behavior change. IGP Balochistan said that the importance of FM radio in keeping roads safe from accidents cannot be denied.
Passengers traveling on the highways will not only be updated with timely road conditions, but listeners will also be informed about traffic rules and regulations to ensure safe travel and protection of precious lives and property. In this regard, Balochistan Police is also introducing an Android mobile application in the context of which recently the test transmission has also been started by the Quetta Traffic Police and very soon this application will be available on the Google Play store, with which the people will be able to make their journey safer.
