The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted another spell of monsoon rains accompanied by wind and thundershowers across most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the evening of July 20 to July 25, 2025.
According to the Regional Meteorological Office in Peshawar, a fresh monsoon system is expected to enter the province during this period. The system is likely to be intensified by a westerly wave, resulting in widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in various districts.
The districts expected to be affected include Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Shangla, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai Pallas Kohistan, Torghar, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and North and South Waziristan.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning that scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in some areas, along with lightning and strong winds. These conditions may lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas, landslides in hilly regions, and potential disruption of daily life.
In a letter addressed to all Deputy Commissioners, the PDMA has urged local authorities to remain on high alert and take all necessary precautionary measures to ensure public safety. Citizens and tourists have also been advised to stay vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during the forecast period.
