PESHAWAR: A most-wanted and dangerous criminal, identified as Sartaj alias Sartajy, was killed during a police encounter in the Peshtakhra area of the provincial capital, police said on Friday. According to a statement by Capital City Police Peshawar, the encounter took place during a raid near the Hazrat Baba area of Peshtakhra following intelligence about the presence of the suspect. Police said that as the team moved in to arrest him, the accused opened indiscriminate fire in an attempt to escape. The police retaliated, and during the exchange of fire, the suspect was killed on the spot. Officials said Sartaj was wanted in multiple serious cases, including robbery, banditry, murder, attempted murder, attacks on police personnel, and firing incidents on civilians. Haqnawaz Shinwari
Police added that weapons were recovered from the possession of the deceased.
