A detailed analysis of the Election Commission of Indiaís (ECI) recent voter roll revision in Bihar has found that Muslim voters were excluded at a significantly higher rate than non-Muslims, raising concerns about systemic discrimination in the electoral process.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the ECIís ìspecial intensive revisionî between June and September 2025 flagged over 6.5 million voters for scrutiny. Out of these, 1.6 million were Muslimsóconstituting nearly a quarter of all flagged voters. After verification, Muslims represented 32.1 percent of the 323,000 names permanently deleted.
The deletion rate for non-Muslims was 4.18 percent, while for Muslims it reached 6.38 percent ó over 50 percent higher.
The disparity was most evident in Seemanchal districts like Kishanganj, Araria, and Katihar, where exclusion rates were alarmingly high.
