Muzammil Aslam, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Finance, has condemned the Punjab government, led by Maryam Nawaz, for what he describes as rampant financial mismanagement and corruption.
In a statement issued from his office, Aslam asserted that the so-called “best performing” Punjab government has awarded contracts worth Rs 1.16 billion to favored contractors for only Rs 390 million.
He noted that a similar mineral contract was awarded last year for Rs 1.16 billion, highlighting significant discrepancies.
Aslam claimed that the Punjab government has only managed to inject Rs 770 million into the government treasury, calling attention to the substantial deficit of Rs 160 billion incurred in the budget during the first quarter. He remarked that the days of this “Form 47 government” are numbered, suggesting that it is hastily trying to cover up its failures.
In contrast, Aslam pointed out that the KP government has successfully awarded its first-ever placer gold contract, amounting to Rs 4.92 billion.
Muzammil Aslam criticized the Punjab government’s efforts to portray its performance as exemplary, emphasizing the disconnect between the reality of its financial management and the narrative promoted by its spokespersons.
