NAB reluctant to probe alleged corruption case

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is reluctant to inquire an alleged corruption scam, causing national exchequer a loss of nearly 1500 million rupees, it emerged. According to details, the complainant, Advocate Waqas Ahmad had submitted a complaint before the anti-graft body’s Karachi chapter. The case pertains to an alleged malicious deal of a plot in Karachi’s civil lines area between the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Real Estate Company. The Sindh High Court (SHC) had initially directed NAB to probe into the matter. However, NAB Karachi’s investigation officer Abdul Fatah Ghanbier ignored the case by avoiding all evidence provided by complainant. According to complaint filed by Waqas, deal of a plot measuring 3509.64 square yards at Civil Lines Quarters Karachi was purchased at the rate of Rs. 175,000 per square yard total sum of Rs. 1,212,442,000 by PPL management from the Real Estate Company.
