National Security Advisor (NSA) Dr Moeed Yusuf has said Pakistan helped in bringing Taliban to negotiation table at the request of Washington but we are being held responsible for prevailing situation in Afghanistan which is absolutely improper.
“ influx of Afghan refugees can lead to create economic woes for Pakistan and if the mistakes of 90 decade are repeated then the result will be the same, he said this in an interview with a US journal here.
Presenting Pakistan stance in unequivocal term he said holding Pakistan responsible for the prevailing situation in Afghanistan is wrong. We together worked in US war but later negative reaction came for Pakistan.
He went on to say that thousands of Pakistani soldiers were martyred while fighting with the terrorists in Pakistan after 9/11.
He questioned had Pakistan asked Afghan National Army (ANA) not to fight. Pakistan helped in bringing the Taliban to negotiation table on the request of Washington, he added.
Instability in Afghanistan can lead to terrorism, inflow of Afghan refugees and economic woes for Pakistan, he held.
He underlined that establishment of peace in the region due to someone individual efforts is impossible.
