New polio case confirmed in KP, provincial tally reaches 11

A new case of polio has been confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bringing the province’s total number of polio cases this year to 11. According to the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Control at the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad, the latest case has been confirmed in a 10-month-old child from Union Council Molazai in the Tank district.
With this case, the provincial breakdown of polio cases in 2025 is as follows: three from Bannu, two each from Tank, Lakki Marwat, and North Waziristan, and one each from Torghar and Dera Ismail Khan.
Nationwide, the total number of polio cases reported this year has now risen to 18. These include 11 from KP, five from Sindh, and one each from Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Health authorities have reiterated the need for continued vigilance and robust vaccination campaigns to eliminate the virus from the country.
