A dignified Induction ceremony to mark the end of a visionary leadership of the founding Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar and assumption of Vice Chancellor’s office by Professor Dr. Saud Altaf was held at Al-Mukhtar Auditorium National Skills University Islamabad. The event ushered in a new era of leadership for Pakistan’s premier institution dedicated to technical, vocational, and skills-based higher education, marking a significant milestone in its continued pursuit of excellence and innovation.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, the Founding Vice Chancellor of National Skills University Islamabad, completed his tenure on June 30, 2026, after a remarkable period of visionary leadership during which the University was conceived, established, and developed into one of Pakistan’s leading institutions for skills-based higher education. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, setting a solemn and respectful tone for the proceedings. This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem by the officers, administrative staff, faculty and students, reflecting a spirit of unity and patriotism.
On the occasion of the leadership transition, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar conveyed his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Prof. Dr. Saud Altaf, expressing confidence that the University would continue to flourish under his leadership. “I extend my sincere congratulations to Prof. Dr. Saud Altaf on assuming the office of Vice Chancellor and wish him every success in leading National Skills University Islamabad to new heights of excellence. I am confident that his vision, dedication, and academic leadership will further strengthen the University’s mission and contribute to its continued growth and national service.” he said. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar also reflected on the journey and achievements of NSU since its inception, highlighting its role as a pioneering institution in skills-based education.
Later, the administrative staff, faculty, and students presented gifts to Prof. Dr. Mukhtar, as a gesture of appreciation and respect, acknowledging his dedicated services and contributions to the institution.
The ceremony concluded with the formal handing over of the charge of National Skills University to Prof. Dr. Saud Altaf as Vice Chancellor, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the university’s leadership.
The appointment of Professor Dr. Saud Altaf as Vice Chancellor is expected to mark new avenues for developmental and transitional phase in redefining higher education through industry-driven learning, technological advancement, entrepreneurship, and the cultivation of a highly skilled workforce aligned with national priorities.
