Officials review cargo processing at Torkham border

On the directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khyber, the Assistant Commissioner of Landi Kotal visited Mechni Post along with officials of Pakistan Customs to review border management and cargo processing arrangements.
It is to be mentioned here that officials in Torkham have been blamed for unnecessary checking of vehicles loaded with Afghan repatriated families voluble that caused Pak-Afghan highway blockade in Khyber.
The Assistant Commissioner Inmanullah Khan Wazir also visited Torkham zero point and inspected the truck processing system and passage routes at the crossing.
An important meeting was held with officials from Pakistan Frontier Corps Pakistan Customs, NLC, and customs agents.
The meeting focused on issues related to the issuance and processing of goods declarations (GDs) in an effort to reduce overcrowding at the Bugyari Post.
Earlier, the forces officials informed the delegation that the clearance and processing operations were continuing smoothly without any unnecessary delays.
Meanwhile, the Tehsildar of Torkham, along with two clerks, has been directed to remain stationed at the border crossing and maintain effective coordination with all relevant departments to further accelerate truck clearance and processing operations.
