ISLAMABAD: One million saplings will be planted this year, said the Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz here . He expressed this while addressing a ceremony held in the connection of clean and green Islamabad.
He said that clean and green Islamabad campaign was inaugurated in 2016.This is the third consecutive year the MCI planting the trees. The staff plants the saplings and also take care of them. He himself tries to go for inspecting the saplings which have been planted, he added.
Mayor Islamabad said that there is no special fund of the government for planting the saplings, but MCI is continuously planting the trees by utilizing its own resources. Private institutions also support MCI in this regard. MCI planted 400 saplings in Kachnar park with the cooperation of the COMSATS University, the Mayor further said.
