Over 13,000 disputes resolved by Peshawar police in five months

The capital city police claimed to have intensified action against encroachment mafias, criminal elements and illegal moneylenders, while expediting dispute resolution and strengthening internal accountability mechanisms over the past five months.
According to official data, the police received 1,759 applications related to illegal encroachments, financial disputes, domestic issues and other conflicts during the period.
Under a revised public-centric strategy, 1,323 cases were resolved amicably. The settled cases involved financial claims amounting to Rs614 million and property measuring 10,595 marlas.
Similarly, the city’s seven Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs) received a total of 12,681 applications, of which 11,991 disputes were resolved through mutual consent.
During 2025 alone, the DRCs handled 1,183 cases, successfully settling 805 disputes. These resolutions involved Rs15.868 billion and land measuring 16,054 kanals.
The police department also carried out internal accountability measures to enforce institutional discipline. During the reporting period, 16 station house officers (SHOs) were suspended on public complaints and corruption charges, while show-cause notices were issued to 22 SHOs for poor performance. In addition, 24 officers and officials were dismissed from service and 48 were suspended.
As part of the self-accountability process, inquiries were initiated against 103 officials, while show-cause notices were served on 223 personnel. Meanwhile, 446 officers and officials were awarded cash prizes in recognition of outstanding performance.
Officials said the sustained operations and reforms had contributed to improved public confidence, enhanced professionalism and higher morale within the police force. Citizens have expressed satisfaction over decisive action against criminal elements and timely resolution of disputes, the officials added.
