Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati on Thursday said the provincial assembly would continue working with relevant institutions to strengthen financial governance through greater transparency, efficiency and modernization.
The remarks came during a meeting with newly appointed Accountant General KP Tariq Bashir Chattha, who paid his introductory visit to the Speaker following his appointment.
The Speaker congratulated Chattha on assuming his new responsibilities and wished him success in his new role, said an official statement.
Secretary KP Assembly Syed Wiqar Shah, Principal Secretary to the Speaker Mian Sarir and other Assembly officials also attended the meeting.
The participants discussed proposals aimed at improving the Assembly’s financial management, including measures to enhance transparency and efficiency. They also reviewed a proposed car monetization plan and a house financing facility for Assembly employees in collaboration with the Bank of Khyber, as well as a salary deduction mechanism to facilitate the repayment of employee financing installments.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati said close coordination with all relevant institutions would continue to strengthen the Assembly’s financial governance in line with modern standards and ensure the transparent, efficient and responsible use of public resources.
