PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday unanimously passed the Ad-hoc Lecturers Regularization Amendment Bill, marking a significant step toward resolving long-standing issues faced by ad-hoc lecturers in the province. The bill was presented during the assembly session by the Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi and received overwhelming support from the members of the house. With the approval of the amendment bill, the regularization of ad-hoc lecturers serving in government colleges across the province has been made possible. APP
Under the new legislation, a total of 208 ad-hoc lecturers, including 112 male and 96 female lecturers have been granted permanent status.
Members of the provincial assembly termed the passage of the bill a positive development for the higher education sector. They stated that the move would not only ensure economic and professional security for lecturers but also help improve the overall quality of education in public sector colleges.
The decision is expected to bring stability and satisfaction among teaching staff and strengthen the academic environment in the province’s educational institutions.
