Pak-Afghan officials meeting in Torkham ends fruitless

A meeting of Pak and Afghan officials held in Torkham ended without any result here on Sunday noon.
Asim Kiyani Commandant Khyber Rifle, Asim KIyani, Lt Col Ahmad Mujtaba 142 wing, Chitral Scout, Lt Col Bilal Border Coordination Committee (BBC), Lt Col Zain Ul Abiden 107 wing attended the moot from Pakistan side while Hifiz Asmat Ullah Yaqoobi Kamasor Afghan Gumrak(custom house),Qari Meraj Commander General Border security forces and Molavi Takal GDI etc represented Afghanistan in the dialog.
Both sides agreed that war could be a solution to issues and it would be resolved through table talks.
The Afghan side said that they were making a new post and reconstructing an old one on Afghan territory as they had no infrastructure of posts however Pak forces complaints and firing was baseless.
They also vowed that the new post would not be utilized against the Pak forces.
Pakistani officials replied that renovation of the old post had been permitted although construction of new one within 100 meters to the Pak-Afghan Border, Afghanistan must inform the Pak forces and it would be resolved as law, previously followed in Palosi Mohmand area dispute.
The Pak officials clarified that a meeting convened in Torkham on 01 September,2023,the Afghan officials refrained from building a new post without negotiation and on 06 September, they again convoyed their grievances to the Afghan Kamasor but to in vail.
Pakistani officials also protested the attacking of TTP volunteers on the forces posts in Chitral district from Afghanistan territory.
We lack resources to restrain the TTP from their activities in Pakistan but will adopt necessary initiatives to stop them, as we in Torkham cannot retaliate for a happen in Chitral,the Afghan officials replied and requested to open the Torkham Border because fresh fruits were decomposing on both sides.
The Pak representatives assured that they would convoy their grievance to the highup.
