NEW YORK: Pakistan has called for stronger global action to end conflict-related sexual violence. The call was made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Asim Iftikhar Ahmad while speaking during the Security Council’s Open Debate on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence. The Ambassador emphasized that conflict-related sexual violence is not an inevitable consequence of war but is often deliberately employed as a tactic of war, terror, torture, repression and collective punishment. Calling for stronger international action, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad urged comprehensive and consistent accountability. ONLINE
