In the year 2023, the performance of the Pakistani cricket team was very disappointing. From the Asia Cup to the World Cup, the Pakistani team could not perform well.
However, many questions were raised on the captaincy of this year.
Pakistan started the year with a draw in the 2-Test series against New Zealand, they lost the 3-ODI series 2-1. By winning the T20 series against Pakistan, Afghanistan made history and put the stain of a shameful defeat on Pakistan cricket.
The defeat of the Pakistani team did not stop on this stain.
Pakistan cricket team returned home from Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup and after defeating Nepal in the first match, Pakistan and India faced each other. The first match was rained out. In second match Pakistan’s bowlers were fabulous and made Indian batting line was helpless but rain hampered the victory of the green shirts and the match was inconclusive.
Despite poor performance in the Asia Cup, Pakistan started the World Cup as the top four teams. The defeat knocked the team down in such a way that it could not get up again.
However, after the World Cup, Babar Azam, the famous batsman of the national team, announced to withdraw from the leadership of Test, ODI and T20.
