Pakistan, Malaysia discuss enhancing parliamentary cooperation

Ambassador to ISC and Adviser to Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Misbah Khar, and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia, Mohd Syafik Firdaus Hasbullah, on Monday discussed ways to further strengthen the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia by enhancing parliamentary engagement, institutional linkages and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Misbah Khar said Pakistan and Malaysia enjoyed warm and brotherly relations founded on shared values, mutual respect and longstanding cooperation. She noted that both countries had consistently supported each other at regional and international forums and continued to collaborate closely across diverse sectors.
She emphasised the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in deepening bilateral ties and fostering greater understanding between the two nations. Misbah Khar said that under the leadership of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, the Senate of Pakistan remained committed to strengthening engagement with friendly countries through sustained parliamentary exchanges and enhanced institutional cooperation.
The two sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation between parliamentary institutions, promoting interactions among parliamentary committees, think tanks, academic institutions and youth organisations, as well as encouraging capacity-building initiatives and the exchange of best practices.
They also discussed opportunities to enhance collaboration in trade, investment, tourism, education, the digital economy, women’s empowerment and youth development.
Misbah Khar said Pakistan attached great importance to its relationship with Malaysia and was keen to further strengthen high-level exchanges, people-to-people contacts and institutional partnerships for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Mohd Syafik Firdaus Hasbullah thanked Misbah Khar for the warm welcome and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to further deepening its friendship and cooperation with Pakistan. He expressed confidence that stronger parliamentary engagement and closer institutional linkages would contribute significantly to expanding bilateral cooperation in the economic, educational, cultural and tourism sectors.
Both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting Pakistan-Malaysia relations, enhancing parliamentary diplomacy and exploring new avenues of institutional collaboration to further strengthen the enduring partnership between the two friendly nations.
