Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have been making strong efforts to turn Pakistan into a credible partner of international community. The meetings with global leaders are very important. Pakistan is highlighting the issue of climate change at all global forums to raise awareness. The leadership of incumbent government is working to develop economic cooperation and trade agreements with other countries. The countries in West and East are providing assistance to Pakistan in these devastating times. Prime Minister has applauded the international community for their cooperation in providing aid to Pakistan. During his UN speech, he effectively highlighted the Kashmir dispute and importance of its resolution for regional and international peace. The situation in Rohingya and Afghanistan as well as the war on terror was also discussed during his speech. During this devastating situation, there was a dire need of such participation from Pakistan at the international forums. The way the Prime Minister presented Pakistan’s case at the UN is commendable. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with various world leaders on the sidelines of the UNGA session, where they discussed the matters of mutual cooperation. Overall, it was a great demonstration of Pakistan’s narrative on regional and international cooperation. Both leaders are working hand for bilateral cooperation and growth of the country. Pakistan is an important country and our leaders have efficiently presented it to the world.
On the other hand, both the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addressed the issue of Islamophobia during their UN speeches and meetings to sensitize the world about feelings of Muslims on this topic. It is high time that different societies start to realize the dire need of respecting each other’s religious beliefs and practices. Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto categorically urged that these issues must be highlighted under the UN and there is a dire need to achieve harmony among diverse cultures and societies. Islamophobia is not a Muslim issue only. It will also affect the Western societies.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari recently while addressing High Level Meeting on Effective Promotion of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities in New York has called for convening a global dialogue on countering Islamophobia as a state policy. He asked United Nations to formulate an action plan to combat Islamophobia. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said India, the once secular country, is transforming into a Hindu supremacist state at the expense of its Muslim and Christian communities. He said RSS’ hate filled Hindutva ideology has unleashed a reign of fear and violence against India’s two hundred million strong Muslim minority.
There is a great need to explain to the West that what Islamophobia is. The term Islamophobia is being discussed in the media, but its reasons are not being explained accordingly. For that, we have to study Islam thoroughly and historically. It is high time that the Muslim Ummah unites to present a real and peaceful face of Islam to the world. We should highlight the extremist elements among Muslims and talk about Islamophobia in a categorical way. The Muslim Ummah must raise awareness about Islamophobia. The blasphemous content should be condemned by everyone in the world.
