TAKHT BHAI
The Outpatient Department (OPD) at the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Takht Bhai has remained closed for the past week due to a doctors’ strike, causing serious inconvenience to patients and their attendants.
Like other government hospitals in Mardan district, the OPD services at the facility have been suspended, forcing dozens of patients who visit daily for treatment to return home without receiving medical care.
Public circles have expressed concern over the prolonged closure and demanded that the boycott of OPD services be ended immediately in view of the hardships faced by patients.
On the other hand, doctors say the strike is not intended to cause suffering to patients but to draw the government’s attention to what they describe as their legitimate demands. They claim that despite repeated assurances, the government has yet to implement the Security Act, while payments under the martyrs’ package have also been delayed.
The doctors termed the killings of Dr Wardah and Dr Mahwish as tragic and strongly condemnable, adding that the alleged lack of adequate government action following the incidents was a matter of grave concern.
Residents say the continued suspension of OPD services has further aggravated the difficulties of the general public and have urged the authorities to resolve the issue at the earliest.
