PESHAWAR
An unidentified drone crashed in the central area of Ghalanai, district Mohmand, on Monday, however fortunately no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to local police, the drone, which reportedly approached from an unknown direction, struck the building of Governor Model High School located inside the Ghalanai Headquarters compound near the residence of the Deputy Commissioner Mohmand. The drone fell through a ventilation opening into a classroom, while some of its debris was scattered in the school corridor.
At the time of the incident, teachers and staff were present on the premises but remained unharmed.
Security officials stated that the area has been cordoned off and evidence is being collected to determine the nature and origin of the drone. Technical teams are conducting a forensic examination of the wreckage.
According to security sources, it is still unclear where the drone came from. However, due to the sensitivity of the incident, surveillance and investigation efforts have been intensified. The local administration has also tightened security at the school and nearby government installations.
Authorities have stated that the current incident is being viewed within this broader security context, though final conclusions will only be drawn after the completion of investigations.
