Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Games
Peshawar
The institutions that provided accommodation, transport, and equipment facilities for female athletes during the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Games have still not been paid. According to them, the Directorate of Sports was supposed to pay 2.7 million rupees for providing these facilities at various locations, but despite the passage of several months, the issue remains unresolved. However, according to the Sports Department, the full amount has already been paid to the concerned contractor in a lump sum.
On the other hand, various vendors are struggling to recover their dues. They stated that during the women’s games held in Charsadda, Hayatabad, and the Board of Intermediate, they provided transport services to take players from hostels to the grounds and back, as well as utensils and related services in the hostels — but they have yet to receive any payments.
It is worth mentioning that instead of hotels, female athletes were accommodated in hostels where basic services were arranged. According to the Directorate General of Sports, a contract worth 9.7 million rupees was awarded for providing services during the games, and payments have already been made to the vendors.
The affected vendors have appealed to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Sports Minister, the Secretary of Sports, and the Director General of Sports to take notice of the matter and ensure that they are paid.
