PCP hosts ACT basic Clubfoot Treatment Provider workshop

A two-day ACT Basic Clubfoot Treatment Provider workshop successfully conducted at the Paraplegic Centre Peshawar (PCP)here on Thursday.
Out of the total 8 participants the training program brought together 5 new trainee healthcare professionals from DHQ Teaching Hospital Haripur and 3 from the Paraplegic Centre Peshawar. The training aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of healthcare providers in clubfoot treatment, ensuring high-quality care for children affected by clubfoot.
Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas, CEO Paraplegic Centre Peshawar, awarded certificates to the participants who successfully completed the training course with practical demonstration.
He praised the participants’ dedication to learning and expressed the hope that they would provide comprehensive and free treatment to children with clubfoot at the newly established clubfoot clinic in Haripur.
Dr. Ilyas stated that this initiative is part of a broader effort by the Paraplegic Centre Peshawar and MiracleFeet to provide free treatment to children with clubfoot in Haripur district and surrounding areas.
He said that Clubfoot clinics have already launched at major cities of Khyber Pakhtunkwa including Peshawar, Abbottabad, Swat and Swabi as well as federal capital Islamabad and Muzaffarabad AJK that have become a success story and over 4000 children with clubfoot chronology have been treated free of cost so far.
He revealed that the plan will be gradually extended to other remote cities of the province including Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and merged districts wherein well equipped Clubfoot clinics would be established with active support of the MiracleFeet.
Dr. Amir Zeb, Provincial Coordinator, Clubfoot Program and Representative of PCP, exhorted during the workshop that the center is committed to providing comprehensive treatment to children with clubfoot with not a single affected child left untreated. He expressed gratitude for MiracleFeet’s support and looked forward to continuing their collaboration to improve the lives of children with clubfoot and providing succour to their families.
The Paraplegic Centre Peshawar and MiracleFeet share a common vision of ensuring that all children with clubfoot have access to timely, high-quality treatment. This initiative marks a significant milestone in their joint efforts.
Noteworthy is that the ACT (Africa Clubfoot Training) program is a foundational training initiative that played pivotal role in strengthening the clubfoot treatment system in sub-Saharan Africa.
Between 2015 and 2017, this program trained fresh national-level trainers in 18 countries, contributing to enhance partnerships and improve treatment outcomes.
The Africa Clubfoot Training program is structured into three progressive stages: the Basic Clubfoot Treatment Provider Course, the Advanced Clubfoot Treatment Provider Course, and the Train the Trainer (TTT) Program. This training initiative equips medical professionals with the effective application of the Ponseti method, ensuring that every child receives timely and high-quality treatment worldwide.
