People from different walks of life welcomed the Namoos-e-Sahaba and Ahle Bait amendment bill passed by the National assembly aimed to uphold respect for the Companions of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and His Wives and family.
Addressing to a crowded press conference held here in Landi Kotal press club on Wednesday Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Landi Kotal chapter head Maulana Wadan Ullah,City Mayor Haji Shah Khalid,Anjumane Tajeran Landi Kotal Bazaar Haji Jafar Shinwari,Jamate Islami(JI) local head Murad Hussain Afridi,Qari Mussarat of Jamiat ullema Islam,Fazalrehman(JUI-F) and others expressed their amuse over the passing of the Namoos-e-Sahaba and Ahle Bait amendment bill and said it would discourage those people who involved in blasphemy.
Due to simple punishment (three years impressments and bailable crime) the criminals despite the punishment committed the same again, they added and said in the amendment bill the punishment of the disrespecting of the Sahaba was 10 years and the crime was non bailable would certainly curtain the crime.
Such kinds of legislation would promote peace in the country and would enhance mutual harmony between various sects of the society, they remarked.
They appreciated the honorable member of National Assembly (NA) Abdul Akbar Chetrali for presenting the bill and valued the role of the NA members for passing the bill.
The participants urged the members of the Senate to pass the bill with majority and be proven true representatives of the people.
