PESHAWAR
Provincial President People’s Labor Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Zulqarnain on Wednesday demanded of the federal government that the workers welfare fund should be allowed to remain with the federation as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is already suffering from severe economic crisis and owes about 900 billion rupees.
In a statement issued here Shah Zulqarnain said that by transferring the workers welfare fund to the provinces, millions of industrial workers and employees across the country will be directly affected.
People’s Labor Bureau Provincial President Shah Zulqarnain demanded of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Federal Minister for Overseas and Human Resource Development Sajid Hussain Turi that the Workers Welfare Board was established by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for the welfare of people to get various benefits, including dowry grant, free education and scholarship for the children of the workers in industry.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan Assemblies had also passed resolutions against the transfer of workers welfare fund to the provinces that these institutions should not be handed over to the province.
