PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco)’s sub-divisional officer Alamzeb held on charges of electricity theft was released on bail Sunday by a local court.
Additional District Judge Gohar Ali had accepted his bail on Sunday, but he could not be released from the Peshawar Central Prison the same due to technical reasons. Earlier, Alamzeb’s lawyer Abdur Rauf Rohilla had complained to the court that the FIA was using delaying tactics to keep his client in detention.
Alamzeb was arrested by the FIA on the charges of stealing electricity. However, he claimed he was arrested after catching an FIA officer red-handed while stealing electricity. The Pesco crew that reportedly gave report to FIA that Alamzeb was involved in power theft later submitted in the court that they had given no such report.
