PESHAWAR: The district administration in Peshawar carried out a special crackdown against the use of rancid and repeatedly used cooking oil in various markets of the city. During the operation, administrative officers inspected restaurants, bakeries, food outlets and other commercial establishments to examine the quality of cooking oil being used. Officials recovered foul-smelling, substandard and repeatedly used oil from several outlets, which was confiscated and destroyed on the spot. Fines were imposed on violators, who were also directed to strictly comply with hygiene regulations, improve sanitation arrangements and ensure the use of quality, approved cooking oil. Deputy Commissioner Sanaullah Khan said no compromise would be made on public health and that action against the use of harmful substances would continue without discrimination. DLP Report
