PESHAWAR
A large number of people, including workers and supports of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, (PTI) staged a protest rally on Friday against the rising wave of militancy and lawlessness in the province and demanded independence inquiry into Peshawar police lines suicide bomb blast.
The regional chapter of PTI has organized the protest outside the Peshawar Press Club (PPC).
Former ministers of PTI including Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Kamran Bangash, ex-MNA and head of party youth wing Murad Saeed, Arbab Sheer Ali participated in the protest.
The members of the party’s local chapter and general public also attended the protest rally.
Carrying banners and placards, the participants of the rally condemned the rising spell of terrorism in the province and Peshawar and demanded the incumbent federal and interim provincial government to improve the worsening law and order situation in the province, particularly in Peshawar.
Chanting slogans against the recent spike in militancy and attack in the provincial capital, they asked the authorities to take pragmatic steps to improve the worsening law and order in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The speakers said that it was the prime responsibility of the state to provide protection to its citizens.
They said that the poor law and order and rising militancy had created a sense of insecurity among the local people and political leadership.
The leader of PTI and former Murad Saeed asked the government to take practical steps against those involved in attacks on police lines.
Murad Saeed added that action should be taken against those who were supporting violence and violating the law, adding the workers under the leadership of PTI were protesting for durable peace in the province and against the incidence of terrorist attack on the mosque in the provincial capital.
