A delegation from Press Information Department (PID) Peshawar, led by Deputy Director Romana Asad Khan, visited the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday to engage with the local journalism community and discuss operational challenges faced by reporters.
During the visit, participants highlighted the efforts of Federal Secretary for Information Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil in centralising federal media offices within the historic Radio Pakistan building to streamline public communications and improve administrative performance.
On behalf of Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications (DEMP), Ms Khan presented a copy of the newly compiled volume, ‘Consolidated Speeches of Quaid-i-Azam’, to the leadership of the Peshawar Press Club.
Spearheaded under the guidance of DEMP Executive Director General Imrana Wazir, the compilation marks the first time Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s public addresses from 1906 to 1948 have been systematically gathered from archival records, including the British Library and India Office Records. Copies are being distributed to national academic institutes, global universities and research hubs to support historical research and preserve state heritage.
The PID delegation, which also included DEMP Film Editor Shah Khan and Asad Khan, held a roundtable with press club leadership, reassuring journalists of the ministry’s full support in addressing working difficulties and logistical constraints.
President M. Riaz, General Secretary Alamgir Khan and Khyber Union of Journalists President Kashif-ud-Din commended the initiative and hosted the visiting officials on a tour of the facility. Senior journalists Shamim Shahid, Saif-ul-Islam Saifi and other members were present on the occasion.
