PM requests CJP to form Judicial Commission to probe Arshad Sharif’s killing

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial to form a judicial commission to probe journalist Arshad Sharif’s murder.
The Prime Minister, in his letter, has pleaded the CJP Bandial to form a ‘high powered commission’, comprising of all available Supreme Court Judges to investigate the matter.
The Prime Minister, according to the letter, has outlined five basic questions that must be answered to probe the matter. The first question is “What procedure was adopted by Arshad Sharif to flee country back in August 2022?” Second question is that “Who facilitated Arshad Sharif’s movement abroad?” According to letter, the third question outlined by prime minister is that “Whether any federal or provincial agency was aware of life threats to the slain journalist?” According to fourth outlined question, the Commission must probe that what had lead Arshad Sharif to move to Kenya? Fifth question is to dig out the on-spot circumstances in which the journalist was murdered.
The Premier assured country’s top judge of complete assistance by the federal government to investigate the matter. Shehbaz Sharif told in his letter that the government had abruptly formed a team comprising of experienced investigative officers which was later sent to Kenya. He stated it must be thoroughly examined that with whom Arshad Sharif had contacted before he fled abroad.
