LAHORE
Opposition parties in Punjab failed to make a statement Monday as less than 150 lawmakers from both major parties participated in the joint parliamentary party meeting held, local media reported.
According to media reports, 145 members of provincial assembly (MPAs) from the PML-N, while two members from the PPP attended the meeting. Five PPP MPAs were absent from the meeting, sources revealed.
Lawmakers were directed by their party leadership to remain in Lahore until the Punjab Chief Minister takes vote of confidence by the Assembly. On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry said Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi has the support of 187 lawmakers in Punjab.
Reacting to PML-N’s federal ministers’ arrival at Punjab Assembly on Monday, Fawad said his party’s senior leadership will also land in Punjab soon.
