SWABI: Pakistan Muslim League-N local leaders claimed that their party would form the next government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on its performance.
They were speaking at a meeting convened to discuss a strategy to counter the continued criticism of PTI leaders of their party over the ban on new gas connections in Swabi.
The participants recalled that when the military ruler Pervez Musharraf toppled the government of Nawaz Sharif in October 1999, the PML-N was also ruling the KP. After that the party could not form the government in the militancy-hit province, but now it was in a position to form government in KP after the 2018 general elections, they insisted.
About the PTI leadership’s hue and cry over the ban on gas connections, they claimed that after failing to serve people in the province, the PTI was now raising the gas issue to keep PML-N away from the masses.
However, they said the PML-N respected the mandate of the PTI in the province.
On the occasion, MPA Shiraz Khan said the PTI had failed to deliver to the people during its almost four years in power. Jan Badar Khan, former adviser to KP chief minister who recently joined the PML-N after quitting PTI, said hollow slogans could not attract the masses and only practical steps could change their mind.
Liaqat Ahmad Khan, who contested last election from NA-13, Swabi-II, said: “We would seek the vote on the basis of our performance.”
