Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a snatcher in an injured condition in the limits of Chamkani Circle.
ASP Chamkani circle Muhammad Haseeb Ashraf told reporters that the snatcher was allegedly involved in several cases of snatching including in attacking to snatch a mobile from senior journalist Rashid Afaq.
The arrested suspect has been identified as Idress, resident of Afghanistan.
During the operation, eight mobile phones, weapons used in the incidents and a 125cc motorcycle were also recovered from the possession of the arrested.
The arrested accused has also given the names of other accused in the gang, for whom special teams have been formed to arrest them.
More important revelations are expected from the arrested accused during the investigation, said ASP Haseeb Ashraf.
Police officer said that the arrested person is a member of a specialized gang involved in snatching, with several associates previously arrested in Rawalpindi.
The suspect accused of snatching mobile phones from five people today, with the group’s activities reported in various areas, including Gulbarg, Faqirabad, Bakhshopul, Khazana Pul, and other area of the provincial capital.
