Machni Gate police arrested five suspects belonging to dangerous robber gangs, said a handout.
Police said that one of the arrested suspects is from Khyber District while the others is the resident of Peshawar.
It has been revealed that one member of the gang had killed one of their own comrades on February 5 after snatching money from civilians. The slain robber was identified as Kaleemullah son of Wazirzada.
Police claimed that the entire network was accessed through a scientific investigation into the murder of a robber. The group also includes a man accused of buying snatched and stolen mobile phones at exorbitant prices, said police.
The arrested accused include Azhar Khan, Shoaib, Obaidullah. During the operation, 27 snatched valuable mobile phones were recovered.
Preparations were being made to smuggle mobile phones to neighboring Afghanistan after changing thier coding and numbers.
More than two lakh cash snatched from the accused was also recovered.
Motorcycles and weapons used in the robbery have also been recovered.
Police further shared that more important revelations are expected from the accused during the comprehensive investigation.
