Police department organized a special awareness session for students of law of a private college here on Thursday.
The awareness session was attended by DSP Town Mukhtiar Ali, Secretary Local Government Zaheerul Islam, college teachers, students and professors of the college.
The students of the law were briefed over the reforms introduced by the provincial government in the police department.
The participants held a detailed discussion regarding the reforms, during the special awareness session, the students were also informed about the challenges faced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police including the establishment of peace and order in the society and the supremacy of law.
Mukhtiar Ali also highlighted the ongoing reform process in the police department and the ongoing efforts of the police to protect the rights of citizens. KP police are engaged in the welfare of humanity, protection of life and property of citizens and prevention of crimes without any discrimination, he added.
DSP Mukhtiar Ali informed that special steps were being taken by the police to ensure immediate legal assistance to the oppressed sections of the society and to ensure their justice in all cases.
He said that to ensure the implementation of various laws in accordance with their original spirit, special training and awareness was being provided to the investigation officers.
A special school of investigation has also been established for police investigation officers to equip them with news skills required for investigation in the modern age, he added.
In the special awareness session, the role of law and lawyers in eradicating criminal elements from the society was also discussed.
DSP Mukhtiar Ali said that the students of law will play a positive role in their professional life and hopefully they will serve the society as per the law.
