BAJAUR
A police inspector was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Khar Tehsil of Bajaur district here on Wednesday.
According to locals and police officials, the incident took place last evening in the Yousefabad area of Khar Tehsil where unidentified persons opened fire on Inspector Syed Gul. According to officials, the police inspector was on his way home in his car when the occupants of the vehicle, including his opponent, opened fire on his vehicle with automatic weapons. Syed Gul was seriously injured in the firing.
Rescue personnel rushed to the spot after the accident and rushed Inspector Syed Gul to District Headquarters Hospital Khar in critical condition where doctors confirmed his death.
The funeral prayers of the deceased police inspector who was also the head of Khar bazar police squad were offered at the police line last night which was attended by a large number of citizens of the area along with the administration and police officials. The body of the deceased was later taken to his native village of Alexandro.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the incident, but District Police Officer Abdul Samad Khan said they have launched an investigation into the incident and efforts are underway to arrest the culprits.
