Police post blows up in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: Unknown militants blew up an abandoned Arkhanda police post with explosives on Kam Shalman road in Landikotal tehsil,however,no casualties reported, police said on Sunday. According to local police, the incident took place at around 11:30 pm Saturday night when a powerful blast targeted the Arkhanda post, located Kam Shalman road. The explosion was heard across distant areas, causing fear and panic among local residents. Police said no casualties were reported as the post had been remained closed and inactive for nearly four years. The blast comes amid a recent surge in militant activities and targeted attacks in Landikotal and other parts of Khyber district. In recent weeks, the area has witnessed several security incidents, including attacks on security installations, targeted killings and shootings by unidentified armed men. Recently, Khyber News reporter Sayem Khan Afridi was attacked by unknown armed assailants near his residence in Sultankhel village in Landikotal, where he narrowly escaped the attack. In another incident, two local residents, including a Pakistan Army personnel who was on leave, were killed in a targeted shooting in the area.
Local residents have expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation and called for effective measures to restore peace in the region.
Police have launched an investigation into the latest blast; however, no official statement has been issued so far and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
