Police sacrifices eulogised

MARDAN(INP): Commandant of the Punjab Regiment Centre (PRC) Brigadier Tariq Qadir said on Thursday the sacrifices of police in the war against terrorism would be remembered in history.
“On behalf of the army officers and jawans, I appreciate the sacrifice of the police,” he said while addressing a gathering in connection with the ‘Martyrs Day’.Regional Police Officer (RPO) Mohammad Tahir Khan also addressed the gathering, which was attended by the heirs of the slain cops.
District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad, Superintendent of Police (SP) Operation Shafiullah Khan and other officers of police and army were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, RPO Mohammad Tahir Khan said for the last several years, the police have been rendering sacrifices to protect lives and property of the masses and save the motherland from the terrorists. He added, however, that the number of police martyrs had increased since 2006 to 2016 due to war on terror.
According to the statistics, 35 cops including 3 sub-inspectors, 8 assistant sub-inspectors, 2 head constables and 22 constables were martyred in different attacks from 1972 till 2006 while 69 cops including 2 deputy superintendent police, 2 Inspectors, 8 sub-inspector, five ASIs, nine HCs and 43 constables were martyred in different attacks in Mardan from 2006 till 2016.
