PESHAWAR: A policeman was injured while breaking up a fight inside of University of Peshawar (UoP) on Monday. According to police that during a clash between students over some membership one of the student opened fire and as a result one police personnel sustained injuries. The incident took place during a membership drive of the Insaf Student Federation (ISF), said police. Following the incident, the injured policeman was rushed to Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) for treatment. Police have arrested the suspect identified as Waqar and a case has been registered against him. It should be noted that the accused Waqar Marwat has graduated from the UoPin the year 2017. The senior members of the ISF told reporter after the incident that Waqar was a former member of the federation and his membership has been suspended. They claimed that the member was asking for the restoration of his membership. Waqar Marwat’s membership was suspended for supporting the opposition political party in the local government elections, therefore, the group was not ready to add him back to the ISF, they added.
