MARDAN: District Population Welfare Officer Nosherawn Khattak has said that the growing population is a challenge and to end the imbalance in population and resources, population must be controlled. He expressed these views while addressing a one-day seminar on “Balance of Population and Resources” organized in collaboration with UNFPA at Mardan Press Club for the awareness of youth. President Mardan Press Club M. Bashir Adal was the special guest. Deputy District Officer Khalid Usman, Tehsil Officer Takhtbhai Shahid Ali, Demographer Imtiaz Khan, Farid Safi, Abdul Ahad Hoti and Farhad Khan also addressed the seminar. Students of various educational institutions, officers and staff of the department participated in large numbers in the seminar. Nosherawn Khattak said that the aim of the seminar is to create awareness among the youth before marriage so that they can decide on the formation of their family by looking at their resources. He said that apart from reproductive health centers across the district, more than 30 welfare centers are working for maternal and child health and development, all family planning programs are very safe and the staff is there to guide married couples, while the services of urban field staff are also available.
