PESHAWAR: The Population Welfare Department, Peshawar organized a special event aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer. District Population Welfare Officer, Peshawar, Samiullah Khan Khalil was chief guest on the occasion. The event focused on educating women about the early symptoms, timely diagnosis, treatment, and preventive measures of breast cancer. Director General (DG) Population Welfare Department, Rehan Gul Khattak, District Population Welfare Officer Samiullah Khan Khalil, In-charge RHSA Dr. Shahinda Afridi, SMR member Abbas Ghafoor Shah, Demographer Shahid Murad, Kashif Fida, and other health experts addressed the participants. They highlighted that breast cancer is a growing concern among women, but early detection can significantly reduce its risk. Rehan Khattak emphasized that the Population Welfare Department is actively working on various initiatives to promote women’s health, spread awareness, and ensure the provision of essential healthcare services. Participants appreciated the department’s ongoing awareness campaigns, stating that such initiatives foster positive attitudes toward women’s health and strengthen communities.
At the end of the event, awareness pamphlets were distributed, and medical experts responded to participants’ queries regarding breast cancer and related health issues.
On the same occasion, a monthly performance review meeting of Family Welfare Counselors and In-charges of Welfare Centers was also held under the chairmanship of District Population Welfare Officer Samiullah Khan Khalil.
The meeting reviewed the ongoing projects, public awareness activities, and performance of welfare centers across the district.
Samiullah Khan Khalil provided guidance to improve performance further and directed the officers to intensify efforts for spreading awareness about women’s health, family welfare, and population balance.
Participants praised the Population Welfare Department’s initiatives and commended its continuous efforts for the welfare of women and families.
