Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) completed the number game for the election of the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). According to sources, PPP has the support of 28 members of the AJK assembly, and the four-member forward block headed by Barrister Sultan Mehmood is in contact with the PPP.
Four Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are in contact with PPP individually. Furthermore, the Prime Minister of AJK will be from the forward block, Speaker and deputy speaker will be from PPP, sources added.
The PML-N will also be included in the AJK cabinet. Earlier, the regional assembly session adjourned as the deadlock persisted over the election of the prime minister of AJK on the fifth day again without proceedings.
The united opposition has devised a strategy in a joint session and decided to give tough time to the ruling party, sources said. The assembly session has been requisitioned by the opposition after the disqualification of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas by the AJK High Court on April 11 over accusing the judiciary of hindering his government’s functioning and interfering in the executive’s domain through stay orders.
