The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter on Thursday organised an environmental awareness workshop to mark International Earth Day, focusing on climate resilience and sustainable practices.
The event was held at the Provincial Headquarters under the Climate Advocacy and Coordination for Resilient Action project, supported by the German Red Cross and BMZ.
Held under the global theme “Our Power Is Our Planet,” the workshop brought together stakeholders, including PRCS KP Chairman Farzand Ali Wazir, Provincial Secretary Abid Rahman Marwat, representatives of Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar, media personnel, volunteers and staff.
Participants discussed key environmental challenges and explored practical solutions, including promotion of renewable energy, development of climate-resilient infrastructure, improved water management and ecological restoration.
Speakers highlighted the importance of adopting nature-based solutions and responsible environmental practices to help communities cope with the growing impacts of climate change.
They also stressed the need for coordinated efforts among government institutions, development partners and civil society to effectively address environmental challenges in the province.
The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment by participants to strengthen collaboration and advocacy for a more sustainable and resilient future.
