ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi while directing Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) to apologize to Security guard has said “ I being president of Pakistan apologize to the citizen. According to communication issued by Aiwan-e-Sadr media wing Saturday the president said in his decision on EOBI petition against Wafaqi Mohtasib decision that EOBI even did not allow the security guard to enter into the premises of its office in connection with pension matter. EOBI should cast deep look into its anti poor and non friendly attitude. It is shameful act that a general laborer was kept waiting for years in connection with his pension.
President said file of the complainant remained misplaced for years.
Security guard Iftikhar Hussain served in a private security company. He became disabled due to an accident during his service in2018.
Later security guard resorted to EOBI in connection with his pension.
EOBI while refusing him to make payment of pension grant said his service period is less than 15 years. Therefore he is entitled to old age grant.
Retired security guard resorted to Wafaqi Mohtasib (WM).
WM directed EOBI to consider the matter.
EOBI filed appeal with the president against WM decision.
President said that a laborer had to wait for years to seek justice.
“I am disappointed to know that when security guard went to office to pursue his pension matters he was not allowed to enter into EOBI office . He was allowed to enter into premises of office on interference of a retired officer. “
President EOBI representative has assured during the hearing of the case security guard complaint will be mulled over as per law.
President while wrapping up EOBI appeal plea has ordered the matter of pension of the security guard be presented before authority of the institution instead of chairman of the institution.
