President, PM condemn cross-border attack from Afghan soil

ISLAMABAD
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the unprovoked cross border attacks on Pakistani border posts from the Afghan territory.
In a statement, the president said these are a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty. He said such attacks harm regional peace and friendly relations.
The President paid tribute to the bravery and professionalism of the armed forces. He said Pakistan Army effectively repulsed attacks in Spin Boldak and Kurram sector.
He said the Afghan Taliban government is continuously violating the Doha Agreement. He said Afghan Taliban are providing safe havens to terrorists, who are becoming a threat to countries across the region.
The President called upon the Afghan authorities to ensure their territory is not used for terrorism and anti-Pakistan activities,.
In a statement Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also voiced concerns over provocations at Pakistan-Afghanistan border by the Afghan Taliban, Fitna-al- Hindustan and Fitna-al-Khawarij.
He said Pakistan Army gave a strong response to the unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban. He said the country’s sovereignty will be defended at all costs. He said the use of Afghan soil for terrorist incidents in Pakistan is highly condemnable.
