PESHAWAR: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has said that some 99 acts of terrorism were occurred during the first half of 2016 claiming that the ration of terror-related incidents has considerably been reduced as compared to the previous five years.
Sharing facts and figures, sources in CTD told this scribe that 65 percent decrease in terror incidents has been witnessed as compared to the year of 2013 in which 281incidents of different nature were reported.
134 incidents were reported in 2015 while no major untoward incident took place in 2016 which showed better and improved performance of police force.
Similarly threats of extortions are vanishing as police used to respond immediately and on scientific grounds to such cases.
The sources said it is fortunate that no such incident took place as there were rumors that terrorist may attack on sensitive public places including mosques on the occasion of Eid Ul Fitar.
Reacting to such rumors, officials of the lawenforcement agencies showed devotion to their duties during Ramadan as they provided foolproof security to the citizens who thronged for shopping in the markets till late at nights.
The sources added that special security arrangements were also made around public parks across the province where people come in large number with their families to enjoy Eid festivities.
“Public parks are very much sensitive places. It can be hit it if there is any security lapse. Police force have been directed to perform extra vigilance in the premises of public places epically children and ladies parks,” the sources said, adding that police officials did not turn up for homes to spend vacations with their families but preferred to perform duty ofproviding safety to other people.
The sources said that people cooperated with police and other law enforcementagencies in keeping law and order maintained during Ramadan and Eid Days.
It is pertinent to mention that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjacent tribal areas were in a state of war for 12 years as thousands of innocent people, policemen and other officials of law enforcement agencies embraced martyrdoms during the insurgency created by miscreants.
Large number of children and women became homeless and many becamephysically and mentally injured having no hope to live a normal lige again.
However, government compensated the victims but they could not survive in that meager amount of money.
General public are of the yew that DIG CTD Salah ud Din and SSP CTD Mian Saeed has the credit for brining normalcy to the situation by adopting decisive strategy for tackling criminals and miscreants in the province.
