Priest shot dead, another injured in an ambush in Peshawar

A priest of a Church in the provincial capital was gunned down while other injured on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as William Siraj who was a pastor in a church falls in the limits of Gulbhar Police Station.
Police said that William Siraj was hit by two bullets in the abdomen and died instantly, adding that another priest namely Patrick was injured and transferred to hospital and his health is reportedly out danger.
According to the initial details, a person belonging to the Christian community has been shot dead in limits of Ring Road of Gulbahar police station near Madina Market. As soon as the incident was reported, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot while a search operation was launched in the area.
Similarly, strict surveillance of suspicious persons has been started on all entry and exit routes of Peshawar, police claimed.
Leading investigators have gathered key evidence from the scene and are examining CCTV cameras in a nearby market.
The Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) spokesperson said that Patrick was slightly wounded and was in a stable condition.
The dead body of William has been handed over to the family while the injured person was being treated accordingly.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has taken notice of the incident and instructed the Inspector General of police (IGP) to immediately arrest the perpetrators.
“Attacks on religious persons are highly condemnable.
The culprits can’t escape the law”, the chief minister said, directing hospitals to ensure the best medical assistance to the injured priest
