A major breakthrough was achieved by Azakhel Police when a most-wanted inter-district proclaimed offender (PO), involved in heinous crimes including murder, attempted murder, robbery, and car-lifting, was killed in an exchange of fire with police on Charat Road near Bhatta Khisht.
According to police sources, SHO Iftikhar Ahmad of Azakhel Police Station was on routine patrol when he received intelligence that Fazal Amin, son of Muhammad Deen, a resident of Shergarh, Mardan district, and a proclaimed offender in multiple serious cases in Mardan and Nowshera districts, was hiding in the Bhatta Khisht area of Azakhel Payan.
Acting swiftly on the information, SHO Iftikhar Ahmad called for additional personnel and launched a raid to apprehend the suspect. However, upon sighting the police party, the suspect opened indiscriminate fire in an attempt to evade lawful arrest. Fortunately, the police officers escaped unharmed and returned fire in self-defense.
After the exchange of fire ceased, a search of the area led to the discovery of the suspect’s body. A Kalashnikov rifle, a bundle of camouflaged clothing, and cartridges were recovered from the scene.
The body of the deceased was shifted to the hospital for postmortem examination.
Police officials confirmed that the deceased was a notorious criminal and had long been wanted in multiple districts for his involvement in violent and organized crimes.
